Aragats Hotel is a small mountain hotel in Armenia, in the village of Aragats near Aparan, on the slopes of the country’s highest mountain. From the garden you can see two of its snow-capped summits. The air is clean, the evenings are cool, and the pace is gentle.
Since 2016 we have welcomed families, couples and teams who come for the mountains, the food and the calm. We keep things personal: a warm welcome, a comfortable room and a table set with fresh local produce.

Spring: the valley turns green
As the snow melts on the high slopes it fills the rivers and waterfalls of the valley, and the meadows around the village turn green. A quiet time for walks, lunch in the garden and day trips to Aparan and the Kasagh Basilica.

Summer: high trails and open-air evenings
From July to September the high trails are usually free of snow: the season for the summits of Aragats, Lake Kari and jeep trips. The evenings are cool, with barbecue in the garden, the fire pit and open-air films.
Mountain tripsAutumn: clear days and starry nights
Early autumn still brings good walking weather and clear views of the summits, and the dark mountain sky is ideal for stargazing near Amberd and the Byurakan Observatory.

Winter: snow at the door
From December to March the landscape turns white. Go sledging and walking in the snow, ski at the MyLer resort about 12 km away, then warm up in the sauna or by the fire. The hotel is open all year.

Fun facts about Aragats
Since 1943, scientists have studied cosmic rays at a research station by Lake Kari, high on Mount Aragats.
Lake Kari, at about 3,200 m, is a high mountain lake you can reach by car on an asphalt road.
The new MyLer ski resort is about 12 km away: 22 km of slopes and a 972 m vertical drop.
The church beside the Amberd fortress was built in 1026, almost a thousand years ago.
The Armenian alphabet was created in 405; giant stone letters celebrate it near Artashavan, on the road to the hotel.
The Byurakan Observatory, founded in 1946 by Viktor Ambartsumian, still studies the sky from the slopes of Aragats.

How do I get from Yerevan or the airport?
It is about an hour by car from central Yerevan along the M3 highway, and about an hour and a quarter from Zvartnots International Airport. Free parking is available, and we can arrange a transfer on request.
Is the hotel a good base for Mount Aragats, Lake Kari and Amberd?
Yes. The hotel lies on the slopes of Aragats, and Lake Kari and the Amberd fortress make an easy day trip around the mountain. Our travel guide has routes and tips.
Is the hotel open in winter?
Yes. Aragats Hotel is open all year round. Winter brings snow to the mountain: a beautiful time for walks, sledging and evenings by the fire.
